This guide has been commissioned by XTRAX and has been devised by Split Second, in collaboration with XTRAX.
Formed in 2001, XTRAX supports artists and festivals from the UK to develop and promote high-quality outdoor arts work. We run our own self-initiated projects, events and showcases; as well as providing strategic management and producer services to our major partner organisations, in particular Without Walls.
XTRAX runs Platform 4: UK, a strategic programme designed to support the international promotion of UK outdoor artists, delivered with partners in the UK, Europe and further afield.
The second phase of the project, which follows our immensely successful international showcase programme, and which is running between 2019 and 2021, supports international promoters to see the work of British artists as part of showcase events and visitor programmes at selected festivals in the UK, and encourages international festivals to present UK artists overseas.
As we develop our activities in response to this very evolving world and sector, we are looking at practical ways to support UK artists - offering training opportunities, networking events and creating a strong framework to promote work that can be toured sustainably in the future.
Split Second is a production company led by Axel Satgé and Kevin Wratten, two producers who share a passion for innovative performance. Split Second collaborates with artists who are blurring the lines between circus, dance and theatre, creates projects to support the development of artists and producers and works to strengthen the sector through consultation, research and being an active voice in international networks.
